Many patients in need of a medical marijuana recommendation don’t know what to expect from a medical marijuana evaluation. But appointments with GreenLeaf Rx are no different than seeing any other type of physician. Your visit is considered part of your confidential medical record and your doctor will only discuss your current and previous medical conditions and your marijuana recommendation with you and only you, to help verify those in search of an alternative to medicines they are currently using to help alleviate their current condition(s). During your medical marijuana evaluation, your doctor will perform an exam for your condition and request to see your current medical records and any diagnosis documentation you may have. Arrive early to fill out any paperwork.

A legitimate visit with your medical marijuana doctor will include the following:

  • A good-faith examination by the actual signing MD, NOT a physician’s assistant. (P.a.)
  • Your doctor will collect appropriate diagnosis documentation from your present treating doctor.
  • If you are without current active care, your doctor will ‘assume’ the entire case him or herself, or facilitate a visit to an appropriate doctor or free community clinic to obtain a valid diagnosis, as the first or second hand recommending physician.
  • Your doctor will write you a medical marijuana recommendation and NOT a medical marijuana prescription. Since marijuana is classified as a Schedule I drug, marijuana prescriptions are illegal.
  • However !! Your medical marijuana recommendation , is in fact according to amendment 2 adopted to the Florida State Constitution, a Legal State of Florida Medical Document, as concurred by the State of Florida Department of Health.
  • Your medical cannabis recommendation will be valid for one year.
  • Your doctor will NOT be affiliated with a marijuana distributor and by law can NOT recommend a marijuana dispensary.

(However in due time plenty access will be readily available, we facilitate , and ease the recommendation process , for admissible patients)

You must be a Florida Resident with a valid Florida I.D. as proof of residency. If you do not have a Florida I.D. an out of state I.D., passport, or other photo I.D. with proof of residency such as bank statement, utility bill, etc. is acceptable.

Besides your proof of residence, Patients must obtain legitimate medical records or documentation from your primary care physician describing their diagnosis and bring these records with you to your marijuana evaluation appointment — I.e Current Prescriptions you are taking/ anything thought out to make the process smoother in your evaluation.

You should bring any and all medical records, prescriptions, xray/MRI results, worker’s compensation and/or disability paperwork with you to your visit. We must see documented proof of your previous diagnosis , or determine a pre-existing condition to determine if you qualify for medical cannabis and protection under the law, in the State of Florida.

The Evaluation Process
Being evaluated for approval to use medical marijuana is similar to regular medical evaluations performed by most physicians. When you arrive for your visit, you will be asked to fill out a Patient Intake Packet. You will meet with the licensed physician, who will perform a medical history and physical exam. Your medical records will be reviewed. If you qualify for medical marijuana based on the law and the physician’s professional opinion is that you may benefit from its use, you will be issued a signed recommendation letter.

The physician will also outline a treatment plan, discuss the side effects, risks and benefits of treatment, and arrange a follow-up visit. The physician will also explain the different ways that cannabis may be used so that you can minimize any side effects and maximize beneficial effects.

Those with current debilitating conditions have some 95% success rate in obtaining their doctors recommendation to use medical marijuana.
